ING New York City Marathon Significantly Raises Entry Fee
The ING New York City Marathon will raise the entry fee by almost $60 for the 2012 race. The new fees are as follows:
- Members of the New York Road Runners Club – $216
- U.S. citizens not in the New York Road Runners Club – $255
- Non U.S. citizens – $347

This breaks down to an increase of $2.29 per mile. The cost of closing the streets and providing medical care to runners was cited as the primary reason for the increase.
The $11 fee to process the application will remain unchanged. 120,000 applications were received for the 2011 event.
